In Memory of Terry Bigley
Terrance Michael Bigley, Sr., 72, passed away peacefully at Harris Methodist HEB Hospital in Bedford, TX
on Monday, 1/13/2020 with family by his side. Terry was born 12/18/1947, at the US Naval Hospital in Newport,
RI, to Joseph Regis Bigley and Elsa Helen (Mild) Bigley.

Terry was a lifelong Christian and lived a kind and thoughtful life. He attended John Harris High School,
Harrisburg, PA and upon graduation in 1965, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Hundley (AS-31), at
the U.S. Naval Station in Guam and various stateside stations. After his honorable discharge, he began an
apprenticeship with the U.S. Treasury Department - Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C, and, as
Plate Printer Foreman, moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1990 to help open the Bureau’s new currency printing facility. He
retired in 2005 after 47 years of faithful service.
Terry has been a respected member of the American Legion for several decades. He has served as Department of
Texas Sergeant-at-Arms; 12th District Commander & Judge Advocate; Commander of Multiple Posts; Director -
American Legion Riders - Chapter 379; Sons of the American Legion Squadron 379 Commander; and had served in
officer positions in other American Legion Posts. He was the 40 & 8 Correspondent for VL 1185. He also served as
Tarrant County Veterans Council President (2011-2012), and was serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Council at
the time of his death. He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders; Disabled American Veterans; served as the
DAV Bluebonnet Senior and Junior Vice Commander; the Veterans Affairs Volunteer Services Chairman; and
volunteered with several other veterans service organizations.
Terry was pre-deceased by his parents; just recently by his wife Kathy Diane Gideon Bigley; his infant son, Shely
Bigley; and his son-in-law Steven Blaylock.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Ellen Gaylor (Robert) of Blairsville, PA; and his brother, Dennis Andrew Bigley
(Diane) of Manteo, NC; his children, Terrance Michael (TM) Bigley, Jr. (Rhonda) of Bowie, TX; Laura Lee Blaylock of
Decatur, TX; Samuel Christian Owen “Babe” Bigley (Jennifer) of Aubrey, TX; Gary Andrew Bigley (Sara Beth) of
Aubrey, TX; Beth Lalena Randalls (David) of Chico, TX, and Michelle Birkett (David) of Watauga, TX; as well as 27
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces, and 3 great nephews. Terry also
helped raise two nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, 1/23/20, from 6 to 8 PM at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement
Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Casket Detail provided by Post 379 Honor Guard.
His service will take place at 11:30 AM on Friday, 1/24/20, at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel with Brother
David Fenn officiating, followed by burial at DFW National Cemetery at 2 PM. (Lane 1) Escorted by the NTX
Patriot Guard & American Legion Riders.
