N.E.E.D. Memorial Day service
Haltom City, Texas
May 24, 2019
First ever, N.E.E.D. Memorial Day service! Clients and volunteers joined together outside the office to salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Once back inside, Cindy Lara, the N.E.E.D. manager welcomed everyone and together we recited a Memorial Day prayer from the American Legion Auxiliary Chaplain's Manual of Ceremonies. This was followed by the soundtrack of "In Flanders Fields". The veterans on hand were asked to introduce themselves and then Mrs. Lara asked me if I would say a few words.
I wanted to remind everyone that there are Memorial Day services throughout the County. The largest being at Mount Olivet Cemetery on Monday; the local service is at the New Trinity Cemetery. I reminded everyone that this is the opportunity to take our children and grandchildren and teach them about patriotism. I thanked everyone for attending as did Mrs. Lara and thanked our veterans for continuing to serve.
