BASE SALUTES EXPO VOLUNTEERS

Harold L Gregory Memorial American Legion Post 626

Members of the American Legion Post 626 family were recognized at an on-base ceremony today hosted by the Naval Air Station-Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base commander. Navy Capt. Mike Steffen presented Cmdr. Arthur McAvoy a certificate of appreciation for volunteer work by Legionnaires and Auxiliary from Post and Unit 626 to salute Vietnam War veterans Welcome Home! activities on base. It was a key part of the Fort Worth Air Power Expo held on base in April.

Joining the commander were Legionnaire Clint Willesen, ALA Unit 626 Historian Harriet Wright, Auxiliary member Christine Willesen, and Post 626 Historian Bruce Zielsdorf . With the help of several other members of the Post 626 family, a POW/MIA table service was conducted as part of the Expo’s opening ceremony in April. The special table setting was put on display in a hangar throughout the airshow weekend to honor all Vietnam-era veterans.
